The White House memorandum or guideline indicates that, to support the fight against corruption at the national and international levels, the action mechanisms of the Treasury Department will be strengthened.
Through international cooperation, the US government, through the Treasury Department, freezes bank accounts and confiscates assets that are under its jurisdiction, belonging to alleged persons accused of corruption.
The guideline indicates that to improve and reinforce the actions carried out by the Treasury Department in coordination with the State and Justice Department, new financial and banking regulations will be carried out.
The National Security Council of the White House reported that, through international cooperation in the fight against corruption, the United States has returned more than 1.5 billion dollars to various countries in assets and money confiscated by the Treasury Department from characters or entities of those various nations.
“It is about increasing the work and collaboration against corruption at the bilateral and multilateral level in forums such as the Group of Seven (G7) – the most industrialized countries on the planet”the White House concluded.
