The first president of Ukraine and the head of the Kiev delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group, Leonid Kravchuk, called the unity of all political parties in the Verkhovna Rada a condition for the return of Donbass to the country. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

According to the politician, now in parliament there are often proposals “bordering on betrayal”, and instead of uniting the parties behave “like a swan, cancer and pike.” “If there is unity in parliament to establish peace in Donbass, and the goal is to return all territories, I think there will be no problems and issues that we could not solve,” Kravchuk said.

Later, during his speech, he criticized the Opposition Platform – For Life faction, accusing it of cooperation with Moscow and a desire to build a “Russian Ukraine”. “We need to burn it out of the state, and when we do not have such problems, I think all issues will be resolved quickly and in an orderly manner,” the diplomat concluded.

Earlier, Kravchuk said that relations between Russia and Ukraine can be restored if the conflict in Donbass is resolved in favor of Kiev. In his opinion, if Ukraine becomes a NATO member, it will change the balance of power. “Russia will be forced, without any forceful methods, we are categorically against forceful methods, to leave Donbass and give Ukraine the opportunity to be an independent, independent state,” he added, noting that it is a matter of time.

Part of Donetsk and Luhansk regions declared independence in April 2014. Kiev tried to retake the rebellious regions by force, but to no avail. Ukraine accuses Russia of armed aggression and occupation of Crimea and regions of Donbass. Moscow does not consider itself a party to the conflict and rejects the claims.
