Jetsun Pema, the youngest queen in the world, celebrates her 31st birthday

This Friday, June 3rd, is a special day in the kingdom of Bhutan. The Queen Jetsun Pema celebrates its 31st anniversary, a date that the Royal House marked on social networks, sharing a new photograph of the monarch – in which she appears in profile, wearing typical country costumes -, and dedicating a few words to her.

“This year, more than ever, we are grateful to have Her Majesty as our most gracious and benevolent Queen. His Majesty is our inspiration in serving the nation. While remaining the personification of force alongside Her Majesty, [o Rei], fill our hearts with courage and hope”, it can be read in the caption of the photo.

Queen Jetsun Pema is currently the youngest monarch in the world, and received the title of consort the moment she married the current king, Jigme Khesar, 41 years old, in October 2011, when he was then 21 years old. The kings of Bhutan have two sons, the crown prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck, five years old, and the prince Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck, one year.
