Izzi Brinkerhoff is 14 years old Y Down syndrome, but the most important thing is that he is going to fulfill his great dream; compete in the US Paralympic Games to be held at Disney World in Florida this June.
The young athlete’s family, her coach and members of this competition gave her a surprise when they told her that she had been selected from hundreds of athletes to compete in the rhythmic gymnastics category.
At that moment Izzi yelled: “My dream came true! I feel very good”. He also did some cartwheels as a sign of the joy that ran through his body.
The young woman will compete in the exercises of balance beam, bars, jump and ground. And he will do it with a team of boys and girls during this competition that will last for 10 days.
Doctors praise Izzi’s effort capacity because they say that people with Down syndrome have less strength and less muscle tone. They often have difficulty coordinating large movements and suffer from fatigue, that is, they tire easily.
