Health notifies 4,975 new cases of Covid and 97 more deaths: the incidence drops to 117 points

The autonomous communities have notified this Friday to Ministry of Health 4,975 new cases of Covid-192,215 of them diagnosed in the last 24 hours. These figures are lower than those of the same day last week, when 5,482 positives were reported.

The total number of infections in Spain has now risen to 3,697,987 since the start of the pandemic, according to official statistics. The cumulative incidence in the last 14 days per 100,000 inhabitants stands at 117.22, up from 118.29 yesterday. In the past two weeks, a total of 55,621 positives have been registered.

In this Friday’s report 97 new deaths have been added, compared to 17 last Friday. Up to 80,196 people with a positive diagnostic test have died since the virus arrived in Spain, according to data collected by the Ministry. In the last week, 108 people with a confirmed positive Covid-19 diagnosis have died in Spain.

At the moment, there are 4,135 patients admitted for coronavirus throughout Spain (4,298 yesterday) and 1,163 in the ICU (1,205 yesterday). In the last 24 hours, there have been 395 entries (432 yesterday) and 486 discharges (605 yesterday). The occupancy rate of beds occupied by coronavirus stands at 3.33% (3.47% yesterday) and in ICUs at 12.14% (12.57% yesterday).

Between May 25 and 31, the autonomous communities have carried out 704,093 diagnostic tests, of which 451,973 have been PCR and 252,120 antigen tests, with an overall rate per 100,000 inhabitants of 1,497.24. The positivity rate stands at 4.82%, up from 4.86% yesterday.

Vaccination

The autonomous communities have administered until this Friday a total of 28,752,570 doses of the vaccines against Covid-19 from Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Janssen, 570,225 of them in the last 24 hours. This represents 86.8% of those distributed, which amount to 33,129,880 units.

In addition, a total of 10,257,209 people have already received the complete guideline, 278,005 more than yesterday, which represents 21.6% of the Spanish population. In this way, the objective of the Government is met, which promised to reach 10 million vaccinated with a full schedule in the first week of June. What’s more, a total of 19,038,135 people have received at least one dose, 40.1% of the Spanish.

The data indicate that in that period 21,490,755 doses of Pfizer have been delivered to the autonomous communities, with 20,288,929 administered; 3,021,500 corresponding to Moderna, with 2,624,440 already inoculated; 7,344,700 from AstraZeneca, with which 5,296,427 people have been vaccinated; and 1,272,925 to Janssen, with 542,774 already injected.

The Ministry of Health has provided this information in the activity report of the coronavirus vaccination process based on data collected between December 27, 2020, the day the vaccinations began, and June 3.
