Austrian Chancellor thanks Putin for Sputnik V

During the SPIEF 2021 plenary session, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for actively fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian Sputnik V vaccine. His words are reported by RIA Novosti.

Kurz noted that the pandemic can only be overcome by joint efforts of all countries. In his opinion, geopolitical differences should not play a role in vaccination issues. “Every success in the fight against coronavirus is a success for the whole world,” he added.

“I am very glad that Sputnik V is already represented in more than 60 countries. I would like to thank you, Mr. President Putin, for your initiatives in this area, ”concluded Kurz.

In March, the Austrian Chancellor called on the European Medicines Agency (EMA) for an early admission of the Russian vaccine to the European market. Kurz also stated that he would be ready to be vaccinated with the Russian vaccine and the Chinese drug, if they are approved in the EU countries.

Earlier, another European country, Serbia, spoke about the role of Sputnik V in relations with Russia. The head of Serbia’s intergovernmental committee for cooperation with Russia, Nenad Popovic, said that the production of the Russian vaccine against COVID-19 on Serbian territory proves the excellent level of relations between Moscow and Belgrade.
