Amputated her leg, she breaks a world record

RECORDS – In Dubai, Lebanese sportswoman Dareen Barbar, with a leg amputee, received her Guinness World Record Certificate for performing the longest sitting session, otherwise known as the “chair exercise”, while staying sitting against a wall for a total of 2 minutes and 8.24 seconds, as you can see in the video at the top of the article.

Dareen Barbar was amputated above the knee at the age of 15, following cancer, osteogenic sarcoma. The one who was destined for a basketball career then ceased all sporting activity and gained 25 kilos. It was only after the birth of her daughter in 2013 that she decided to resume sporting activity.

The Lebanese didn’t just walk through the doors of a gym. She ran a 4-kilometer marathon in Dubai: “a distance she had never walked before” she told the Daily Mail. Then she became a certified trainer and is now a world record holder.
