The American Heart Association (AHA) says that Apple MagSafe devices could cause interference when placed on the skin or near technology products that use cardiac devices.s. Consequently, the association’s researchers found Medtronic, Abbott, and Boston Scientific to develop devices with magnetic susceptibility.
The news portal AppleInsider discovered a report where Researchers demonstrated that the magnet reversal mode can be activated when the iPhone 12 Pro Max is placed on the skin, They also wanted to test the effect of MagSafe on cardiac devices when placing the iPhone next to pacemakers and defibrillators.
The article published in the Journal of the American Heart Association stated that the iPhone 12 do not have a greater risk of magnetic interference compared to previous versions of the mobile. On the other hand, intrusion could occur when someone places a MagSafe device in a garment pocket that is close to the chest, since the researchers add that “it can lead to an asynchronous rhythm or the deactivation of antitachycardia therapies.”
The most outstanding finding of this study is the importance of raising awareness about the interaction between cardiac implantable electronic devices and the model of smart phones that have magnetic charging capacity.
Nevertheless, Apple advises users with iPhone 12 to store the device 15 centimeters away from medical implantsThe authors of the article suggest that patients should consult with cardiologists for various recommendations for using the mobile phone together with cardiac devices.
