The UTHGRA union filed a complaint with the Undersecretariat of Labor for the closure of the Alkristal hotel, leaving 10 employees of the renowned company on the street. According to the head of the Labor portfolio, Jorge Oribe, the workers received a telegram informing them of the closure of the hotel and this prompted the conciliation process to begin.

At the beginning of the week there was a first meeting but no offers were made to the employees. “Today a new hearing was held but we went to an interim room, since the company’s offer did not conform to the other party,” he said.

Oribe said that it is a closure “due to force majeure” and that it occurs because the activity of the company does not yield. “Surely the proposal of double compensation will be carried out. The proposal received by the employees was a very low sum. 20% of what corresponds to it,” he remarked.

He also said that the company Portezuelo SA has promised to seek resources to alleviate this compensation situation and for this reason, it went to the fourth intermission.

Asked about the possibility that the employees take care of the hotel or that other people take over the company, but Oribe said that “they did not see it convenient.” “They were also offered the economic aid granted by the Government and they indicated that they were not interested. Maintaining the firm idea of closing,” he completed.
