Washington Corozo would leave Sporting Cristal to play in Liga MX

The exit of Washington Corozo from Sporting Cristal would be close. The 22-year-old Ecuadorian would fly to Mexico, specifically to Pumas UNAM. As reported by the daily Récord, the ‘University’ has been observing the celestial player throughout 2021, so their interest in him is imminent and they will seek to join the squad as soon as possible.

One year away from Sporting Cristal. The Mexican media pointed out that the Ecuadorian winger would come to Pumas UNAM on loan for a year. The ‘Auriazules’ need to improve their attack line, so the ‘celeste’ footballer would be a great option due to his speed. In a few days the transfer would be made official.

In addition to this, the departure of Facundo Waller and Juan Iturbe would accelerate Corozo’s arrival at ‘Universidad’. Along with the Ecuadorian, Pumas glimpses the arrival of Brazilians Higor Meritao and Rogerio de Oliveira.

Washington Corozó won alongside Sporting Cristal in Phase 1 of League 1; however, the constant criticism, added to the pecuniary impulse, would be the most important reasons for his next departure. It is even speculated that he would not play the Bicentennial Cup with the celestial ones.

Along with the Bajopontino winger, the Auriazul team will also seek the arrival of other players such as Argentine Jonathan Benítez and Efraín Velarde. The president of Pumas, Leopoldo Silva confirmed that they will receive the reinforcements that the institution deserves.

Pumas UNAM did not have its best participation in the MX League, it was in position 15 in the 2021 Guardians Tournament with a total of 18 points in 17 games. It should be noted that the championship was won by Cruz Azul de Juan Reynoso.
