The new queen of SUVs: Volkswagen Taos 2021

This is complemented by one of the most spacious interior spaces in its segment, which is extremely surprising considering that its bodywork gives the impression of being a car that only fulfills the whim of “looking like an SUV.” The driver has plenty of room to the front, back and above to accommodate himself and his preference in driving position does not bother whoever sits in the back. The rear row of seats is comfortable for long trips and the trunk is more than enough for the luggage of four or five people.

These two elements (space and driving comfort) could be considered sufficient for the Taos to be a competitive rival in its segment. However, in order to make it a true benchmark in the populated world of SUVs, Volkswagen threw a lot of meat on the grill with this specimen in terms of safety.

Blind spot monitoring systems, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic High Beam Assist, and Forward Collision Alert with Autonomous Brake are standard from the entry version, adding to this the presence of six airbags by default.

The Taos is an excellent manifestation of what the German brand does when it takes the time to interpret consumer needs, as it fulfills the functional and connectivity “cravings”. It has a wireless charger, a 10-inch screen (one of the largest in its segment), Apple CarPlay wireless connectivity and a highly intuitive interface.

Among the elements that can be blamed on this model, the quality of the materials that make up the interior stands out, since opaque and hard plastics have a majority presence in the interior, which fall short in level perception against some of its competitors.

The success of the Volkswagen Taos last March is also due to its commercial offer, for which we can understand that the quality of the interior has been sacrificed and that is that the most economical version has a competitive price of 449,900 pesos, it is followed by the option Comfortline of 499,900 pesos and finally, the top-of-the-range variant that costs 549,900 pesos.

The differences between these configurations lie in the size of the wheels, the presence of a digital dashboard, the size of the infotainment screen, the seat upholstery and other elements of the equipment. However, the fundamentals and what makes this car a purchase option remains throughout the versions.

Example. Volkswagen has managed to place this product with good arguments in terms of equipment and price.
