You are currently viewing La Matanza: a candidate close to Pichetto covered a Maradona mural

A mural in homage to Diego Armando Maradona, located at the entrance of the Buenos Aires district of La Matanza, was covered this Tuesday for a campaign graffiti of Valeria Mottard, a candidate linked to Together for Change who is close to Miguel Ángel Pichetto, which aroused the fury of the neighbors. “If Mottard wants to represent matancerxs, he should first recognize and respect his popular idols,” La Cámpora La Matanza said in a statement.

Last year, after the death of the soccer star, Provincial Route N ° 4, known as Camino de Cintura, was renamed as “Provincial Route Diego Armando Maradona”. It was from a project of the deputy and head of the block of the Frente de Todos, Facundo Tignanelli, converted into law by the Buenos Aires Legislature.

The residents of La Matanza wanted to complete the tribute with a huge mural located on the border between Morón and Villa Luzuriaga, La Matanza entrance, which portrays the different moments in Maradona’s life. After several weeks of work, the work it was ready at the time of inauguration.

This morning, however, the mural that had taken so much effort woke up completely covered by a political graffiti that said “Valeria Mottard 2021”, a propaganda for the Mantancia lawyer that is outlined under the wing of Miguel Ángel Pichetto.

Apparently, Mottard cared little about the legend that accompanied the mural where it was clarified that it was a work in progress and that the space had been ceded by the owner, along with an explicit request not to paint over it.

“This wall had been donated by its owners so that we can carry out this tribute, a work of many days and hours that today made it impossible for us to finish. If Mottard wants to represent the killer neighbors, he should first recognize and respect his popular idols.“La Cámpora de La Matanza remarked in a statement.

The owner of the place had given up the wall and was happy, the neighbors too, passed by and honked while we painted. It’s a shame that they covered Diego to put that, ”added Mariano, the artist and muralist in charge of the project, in the same sense.

The repudiation also came through Twitter, accompanied by the phrase “I repudiate egoísmo” and the one hasthag: #ConelDiegono.
