The pilot test for the reopening of Ibiza’s nightlife sector will take place in a nightclub in late June or early July. It will have a maximum of 2,000 people, a dance area limited to 500 will be enabled and you will only be able to go to the bar for a drink.

The Government gives the green light, in this way, to the request of the Leisure Association of Ibiza that asked to reopen the sector in compliance with health measures.

Although the date has not yet been specified, it will be done in the next few days, what is known is that it will be outdoors and the attendees will have to notify that they have passed the coronavirus, that they have received the vaccine or will have to undergo a test of antigens to be paid by the establishment where the test is done. This has been confirmed by the manager of Ocio de Ibiza, José Luis Benítez, to Cadena Ser.

Benítez explains that, if everything goes well, after two weeks it will be possible to start talking about de-escalation in the sector and, with it, remove hundreds of workers from the ERTE.

THE GOVERN DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE FALSE STEPS

In the Government they celebrate the efforts of the nightlife sector to resume the activity in safety conditions but they do not want to take false steps. The Minister of Tourism, Iago Negueruela, says that it is too important a sector for the island and that is why they will continue working to carry out this test in the first half of July and launch the message that the sector is safe.

What is clear is that the test must be carried out in the most similar conditions possible to a pre-pandemic leisure environment.

Negueruela has not wanted to advance in which place that pilot test will take place. He affirms that they will now hold talks with the sector and the island’s municipalities to choose the best location.
