According to the Efe agency, Venezuela added 1,357 new cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections of the disease to 232,800 since the pandemic began, which, in turn, has left 2,629 deaths, after adding 14 deaths this Sunday, Executive Vice President Delcy Rodríguez reported.
“The Presidential Commission for the Prevention and Control of covid-19 informs that in the last 24 hours a total of 1,357 new infections were detected in our country, all of them of community transmission”Rodriguez said in a message on Twitter.
He explained that the state of Zulia, bordering Colombia, is the entity with the highest number of cases to date, registering 245 infections.
Zulia is followed by Yaracuy with 171 cases, then Barinas with 161, Lara with 129, Anzoátegui with 103, Cojedes with 102 and Apure with 101.
Below one hundred cases are Miranda with 92, Aragua with 45, Caracas with 42, Nueva Esparta and Bolívar with 32 each, Carabobo with 28, Trujillo and Sucre with 19 each, Monagas with 16, Falcón with 10, La Guaira with 8 and Táchira and Mérida with 1 each.
Meanwhile, deaths were registered in entities such as Aragua with 5, Anzoátegui and Apure with 3 each, Nueva Esparta with 2 and Sucre with 1.
According to government data, of the total of 232,800 cases, 214,590 have recovered, which represents a rate of 92%, so there are currently only 15,581 active infections.
