King Felipe presides over the parade for the Armed Forces Day, conditioned by the pandemic

Accompanied by Doa Letizia, the Monarch has presided over this exceptional Armed Forces Day, much smaller than the traditional parade

King Felipe, accompanied by Doa Letizia, presided over the celebration of the Day of the Armed Forces this Saturday. Although this year due to the pandemic has been conceived as a smaller format, I know that they wanted to make a small military parade to get closer to the citizens.

515 soldiers have attended the meeting, in which in addition to the Kings were the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Daz Ayuso, and the mayor of the city , Jos Luis Martnez-Almeida.

At eleven thirty in the morning the Kings arrived, who were received with applause by about the half a thousand citizens who have approached the Plaza de la Lealtad in Madrid and have not stopped for several minutes dedicate cheers to the King. Don Felipe has chosen the dress uniform of the Navy and was carrying in hand the flare that they gave her at the 2016 Military Easter. The Queen has opted for a pink coat.

A detachment of the Royal Guard has been in charge of receiving Their Majesties at the foot of the Plaza de la Lealtad. Due to the sun that shone in Madrid, where the temperature will exceed 30 degrees, two soldiers have passed out and they have had to be treated and left the stop amid applause from those present.

After the arrival of the Kings, the band of the Royal Guard has interpreted the National anthem while salutes were fired. Then Don Felipe has reviewed the troops and it has been located next to the Queen at the foot of the monument to the fallen by Spain, which is located on the Paseo del Prado and which was inaugurated on May 2, 1840 to pay tribute to the fallen.

In addition to the aforementioned authorities, there were present Teodoro Lpez Caldern, Chief of the Defense Staff; Esperanza Casteleiro, Secretary of State for Defense; Mara Gmez, head of the Civil Guard; Mercedes Gonzlez, delegate of the Government of Madrid and Emilio Juan, head of the Military Room of the Royal House.

After the tribute to the Fallen, Eagle Patrol It has flown over the Paseo del Prado before starting the small military parade made up of a mixed battalion. After the end of the parade, Don Felipe held a meeting by videoconference with the troops deployed abroad.
