"megalomaniac dreams": PSD refuses to stick to Chega

The president of the PSD, Rui Rio, today labeled “nonsense” the statement by the secretary general of the PS, António Costa, that the social-democrats have a xenophobic strategy and lean on Chega, considering it to be characteristic of those who have nothing to do. to say.

The PS secretary general defended on Thursday that there is “a world” of political values that separate socialists and social democrats and expressed concern about a PSD “conditioned” by the Chega agenda, considering this harmful for democracy.

António Costa took these positions in statements to journalists, after having delivered his political orientation motion to the PS Congress, which takes place on 10 and 11 July, in which he insists on the strategic continuity of solutions to the left and on criticizes the political position of the PSD.

When the Government refuses to carry out any reform, in the state we are in, it is not tearing up any horizon for the future of the country, nothing, and as it has no arguments for not doing it, it invents some things, as I said earlier, that the PSD has a xenophobic strategy, leaning against Chega. Saying this nonsense like that means that you have nothing to say and that you simply do not want to reform and manage the country”, replied Rui Rio.

And he insisted: “When the prime minister says that, it means he has nothing to say.”

Apart from being a lie, what I have been saying is that we have to open up horizons for the country, we cannot go around here managing the situation of 0.1 of this and 0.2 of that. People must have better jobs, better wages, hope and a future, and for that, reform is needed. And he says he doesn’t reform anything. There’s no real reason to say nonsense like that”, pointed out the social-democratic leader.

Responding with a laugh to the question about the pretensions announced by the leader of Chega that in a future government he wants four ministries, Rui Rio attributed them to the “pre-congress folklore of Chega”, scheduled for next weekend, in Coimbra.

What I think is that Chega is having megalomaniac dreams. To create [ponte com o PSD] it’s part of folklore. It’s not aimed at me for sure,” he added.
