The Government has called on the social agents to stage a new signing of the tripartite agreement to extend the aid and employment regulation schemes until next September. After a week in which the criticisms between businessmen and members of the Executive had escalated, today an atmosphere of harmony between unions, employers and the Government has been staged.

The business representation has been led by the vice president of CEOE and Cepyme, Gerardo Cuerva, who has been one of the hardest to convince since from the beginning he advocates an extension under the same conditions as those currently used by companies and workers in crisis. Cuerva has not avoided making it clear in a short speech that he continues to be of the opinion that the proposal of the Social Security Minister Jos Luis Escriv to reduce support for companies that remain in ERTE was a mistake. “Many companies are having a bad time and it is not the time to withdraw any stimulus. We are not in 2019 but in that reopening, therefore we must maintain the stimulus.”

The president of Cepyme has also received special attention from Vice President Yolanda Daz, who, after attending last week to support the birth of an alternative business organization to the one headed by Cuerva, has assured in her speech that SMEs and the social dialogue are very lucky to have the president of Cepyme at the helm.

“I told them that I was going to lead the social dialogue to a new governance and we are now a good example of this new governance that has to do with perseverance and the desire to move forward with agreements,” said Daz in what is the ninth major agreement that signs with unions and employers and that should precede others such as the labor reform or pensions that the UGT leader, Pepe Álvarez, has described as “much more difficult” .. “If you want an agreement is always possible. This way of working should be extended to other parameters of our country “, he pointed out in veiled reference to the confrontational atmosphere in the Congress of Deputies, an atmosphere that now extends to other institutional spheres on account of the Government’s intention to pardon the leaders of the procs in 2017.
