Anti-Covid vaccine: opening of appointments for people over 18

Lhe Ministry of Health announced this Thursday, May 27 that anti-Covid vaccination appointments were now open for booking for all adults. Making appointments on Internet reservation platforms, such as Doctolib, has been extended to 18-49 year-olds since 11 a.m. For these people, the appointments will start on May 31, the date of the official opening of vaccination to all over 18 in France.

“Reservations will be progressive, new slots posted online every day on the different platforms”, for his part assured the Minister, Olivier Véran, on Twitter. “People 50 and over who are already eligible can obviously continue to make an appointment,” the ministry said.

“This new step will not, however, make it possible to meet all the demand from patients”, for its part warned Doctolib in a press release, pointing to “a still limited number of doses of vaccines, in particular Pfizer and Moderna”. “28 million adults are eligible for vaccination and not vaccinated to date for an average of 500,000 appointments available each day”, continues the main booking platform, which “expects a high traffic on its services”.

36% of French people are first vaccinated

Vaccinating as widely as possible is a crucial issue for France in order to avoid a resumption of the epidemic in the weeks and months to come, while the restrictions in force are gradually relaxed. At this point, 24 million people have received at least one injection (36% of the total population and 46% of the adult population), of which 10 million have had two (15% of the total population and 19% of the major population), according to the ministry.
