You are currently viewing WhatsApp will soon support migrating your chat history to a different phone number

As previously rumored, WhatsApp is finally working on a feature to transfer your WhatsApp chat history to a different platform in a future update for iOS and Android.

This feature fixes the “issue” where a user could not restore chat history after purchasing a device that is not on the same operating system. In fact, it is not possible to restore your chat history from iCloud on WhatsApp for Android and WhatsApp for iOS cannot restore backup from Google Drive.

However, WhatsApp is now working on a solution to migrate the chat history to another device, regardless of its operating system and number.

This function is not available yet, but WaBetaInfo You have already left some previews on what it looks like:

The transfer cannot be made at any time, only when an Android mobile has been linked to the account.

The new file welcomes you with a different interface.

This screenshot explains several things; The first is that we will not be able to migrate our chat history at any time, this process can only be started when a new Android phone is linked to your WhatsApp account.

You won’t be able to migrate your chat history at any time – you can start this process only when you link a new Android phone to your WhatsApp account. On the other hand, image, audio, document and video files will also be migrated to the Android device; you will find your chat history completely migrated, as well as the rest of the files.

After the new update, many users will say goodbye to WhatsApp.

Transferring your chat history to a different phone number is very useful when you change your device and phone number, so the process to change your phone number will start automatically before you start migrating your chat history.

This feature is in development on WhatsApp for Android and iOS, and will be available in a future update (no release date available).
