They reported 576 deaths and Argentina exceeded 75 thousand deaths from coronavirus

The Ministry of Health of the Nation reported this Tuesday that, in the last 24 hours, there were 576 deaths and 24,601 new infections of coronavirus. With these data, the total number of infected since the beginning of the pandemic amounts to 3,586,736 and the fatal victims are 75,056.

On the other hand, in the last 24 hours, 86,340 tests were carried out with a positivity of 28.49%. Since the beginning of the outbreak, 13,342,649 diagnostic tests for this disease have been carried out. To date, 354,020 active positive cases have been registered throughout the country and 3,157,660 recovered.

Of the total deaths, 340 are men (224 are from the province of Buenos Aires, 18 from the city of Buenos Aires, six from Chaco, seven from Corrientes, seven from Córdoba, seven from Entre Ríos, four from Formosa, one from Jujuy , one from La Pampa, 14 from Mendoza, 10 from Neuquén, four from Río Negro, one from San Luis, two from Santa Cruz, 20 from Santa Fe, nine from Santiago del Estero and five from Tucumán) and 231 are women (151 from the province of Buenos Aires, 10 from the city of Buenos Aires, five from Chaco, one from Chubut, two from Corrientes, six from Córdoba, five from Entre Ríos, eight from Formosa, 11 from Mendoza, 10 from Neuquén, one from Río Negro, three from San Luis, 11 from Santa Fe, two from Santiago del Estero and five from Tucumán).

Five people (three from the province of Buenos Aires, one from Entre Ríos and one from Jujuy) were registered without sex data.

According to the epidemiological part, at the moment in Argentina there are 6,552 people with coronavirus hospitalized in intensive care. The percentage of bed occupancy nationwide is 74.1% and in the Metropolitan Area of ​​Buenos Aires (AMBA) it is 76.2%.

The Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti, said today from Mexico that “each vaccine is a lower risk of hospitalization and death for each person who receives it.”

His words were made in a brief speech made from the National Palace, after Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Mexican president, held a videoconference with Alberto Fernández about the agreement for the manufacture of vaccines of the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca.

The official also referred to the current situation of the coronavirus in Argentina: “In the Southern Hemisphere we are experiencing an epidemiological situation like the one you had at the end of the year, in December and January.”

Vizzotti was accompanied by the ambassador to Mexico, Carlos Tomada, and by the presidential advisor Cecilia Nicolini. There they reported that “the Health teams of Mexico and Argentina” held a working meeting on Monday to share experiences in health matters and, particularly, “to see what the response of the two countries to the pandemic has been.”

Regarding the agreement for the production of AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccines between that company and mAbxience laboratories, from Argentina, and Liomont, from Mexico, together with the Slim Foundation, the official recalled that “this collaboration was agreed in August with the aim of making possible a production for all Latin America ”.

“I want to value that collaboration, that joint work,” said Vizzotti, who stressed that joint production “will allow generating a step towards equity in access to vaccines.”
