The Valencian group Importaco, dedicated to the commercialization of nuts and mineral water and one of Mercadona’s suppliers, closed 2020 with a turnover of 661.8 million euros, 13% more than in 2020.
A growth driven by the integration of the Italian Besana, which it acquired last year although in its accounts it has only registered the sales apart since September, and the increase in consumption within the home due to the pandemic.
The company controlled by the Pons family registered a net profit of 18.4 million euros, 17.8% lower than the one registered a year earlier. A decrease that has been due to extraordinary expenses to guarantee the health of the workforce and the supply of products during the pandemic.
With the integration of Besana, the commercialized volume of nuts has exceeded 105 million kilos, which represents an increase of 14% compared to 2019. For its part, Bebidas Naturales, the business specialized in mineral water, has continued with its development thanks to the increase in consumption of table and jug formats. The volume sold in 2020 has exceeded 765 million liters, 6% more than in the previous year.
Investment of 25 million
The total investment during the 2020 financial year has exceeded 25 million euros, of which 18 million have been used to increase production capacity and 7 million to quality and specialization. The most relevant investment in the 2020 financial year has been the attack on its pipe factory, worth 4 million euros, to increase its production capacity.
The food group, which has 17 production centers in Poland, the United Kingdom and Turkey, as well as Spain and Italy, already exceeds 2,000 workers, after adding 102 more jobs last year.
