The bars and nightclubs of the Community of Madrid want to turn the neon lights back on after almost 15 months with the closures lowered. The sector has presented to the Government of Isabel Daz Ayuso a plan to recover the activity safe, responsible and sensible that in a first phase it would go through applying the Andalusian model, that is, opening until two in the morning and the recovery of the dance floor with security measures.

What we propose is a progressive de-escalation so that the schedules are responding to the suppression of the curfew, argues Vicente Pizcueta, spokesman for Noche Madrid. Every weekend we are watching the folln of the macrobotellones, illegal parties, raves… And what cannot be is that lateros and the 24-hour stores are providing alcohol at night while the regulated sites are closed, he adds.

The sector has its hopes placed on the Covid Digital Certificate of the European Union, which the Government of Spain has announced will come into force from July 1. It is a document that, by means of a QR code, provides information on whether its holder is vaccinated, has had the disease generating antibodies or has a negative PCR result.

We don’t want to be ahead of events, but we no longer have room for maneuver to stay in stand by, says Pizcueta, also optimistic about the advance of immunization, which now reaches 16% of the population in the region, and the decline in infections after the end of the state of alarm. The summer season is clear that in Madrid it is not the most relevant, but we want to transmit a message of confidence so that people know that the returns In the month of September it will be done with total normality, he adds.

Since October, Madrid nightclubs and bars can open as restaurants with tables, but not carry out their main activity, which in practice has meant that at least 40% of businesses remain closed. In addition to an extended schedule -now they have to turn off the light at 00.00 hours like the hotelier-, they demand the recovery of the dance floor, even with restrictions, such as perimeter enclosure, capacity limitation and the mandatory use of a mask.

At Night Madrid they consider it to be a feasible solution if done in a controlled way Although it involves an effort and a responsibility that many businessmen say is not their responsibility, because they are not policemen. Even so, the organization’s spokesman believes that it is the only way to save one of the sectors most affected by the coronavirus crisis.

Restrictions

The nightlife establishments reopened in Madrid with many limitations in mid-July within the de-escalation plan after the first state of alarm. Only a month later, the Ministry of Health, before the start of the second wave, again decreed the closure of an activity that before the pandemic had 1,600 companies in the region that gave I work more than 10,000 people.

Pizcueta argues that since April 9, different autonomous communities have begun to lift the restrictions at their own pace and calls on the Ayuso government to resume that leadership of making the fight against the disease and the defense of the economic compatible because there are already scientific and economic resources. sanitary ware to have an ad hoc solution for each sector. In the Minister of Health they point out that this Friday they will be able to announce new easing measures, but without specifying which ones.

The hand is being opened because the level of contagion is low and our sector cannot be the one to stay there paying the duck that we still don’t have to relax, adds the spokesman for Noche Madrid. If we have to apply restrictions, we will, but we want to be able to work now, we cannot be sacrificed any longer, he concludes.
