10:25 a.m.: Interview by Jens Spahn causes outrage – “In case of doubt it was the foreigner, or what?“
In an interview with “Bild am Sonntag” Jens Spahn spoke about how a second corona wave could develop in Germany. The CDU minister said: “We learned from last summer. Back then, the trips abroad, often visits to relatives in Turkey and the Balkans, around 50 percent of our new infections were caused in phases. We have to prevent that this year. “
When asked by the newspaper whether he wanted to ban family visits abroad, Spahn replied: “No. But: We want to conclude agreements early on, for example with Turkey on tests when entering and leaving the country. And, as in the previous year, compulsory testing would have to be checked by the federal states at the border. In this final phase of the pandemic, overseas travelers should test and be vigilant. Anything else jeopardizes our success. “

The statements cause outrage. The chairman of the SPD youth finds clear words. “Shortly before the election, Spahn found his guilty party: people with an immigrant background. But missing concepts, i.e. your own inability, are responsible for the botched summer. It’s that simple. Light populist smoke candles to distract from failure. Unworthy! ”Tweeted the Juso boss Jessica Rosenthal.
The German-Croatian writer Jagoda Marinić (43) is also outraged: “Does Jens Spahn think of anything other than shaming Germans with foreign relatives? In case of doubt it was the foreigner or what? ”
“Stern” journalist Tibor Martini recalls Spahn’s own corona infection on Twitter: “The same Spahn who received a positive test result after hosting a dinner with several large donors?”
With a statement similar to that of Spahn, NRW Prime Minister Armin Laschet caused a stir last summer. Today’s candidate for chancellor of the Union claimed that the major outbreak in the Tönnies company was that Romanians and Bulgarians introduced the virus.
