Baby drowns in Boquerón;  leaves the house without parents noticing

In the province of Chiriquí, the number of victims per immersion has increased to 17 so far in 2021.

A baby as young as a year and a half lost his life by immersion this Sunday night in the Bágala sector in the Boquerón district in the province of Chiriquí.

The tragedy came to this humble Ngäbe family, when their little boy identified as Sergio Luis Abrego, only a year and a half, escaped from the house and went to a creek where he drowned.

According to some witnesses, the infant left the house without his relatives noticing, after a few minutes they began to look for him, with the help of some neighbors, but it was not hours after they found the body floating in the creek.

It was immediately notified to fire brigade paramedics, who when arriving at the place ruled that the child did not maintain vital signs.

Units from the National Police, Criminalistics experts from the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences and officials of the Public Ministry, in charge of the legal authority of Boquerón Yosiris González, who carried out the removal of the minor’s body.

The authorities have started investigations of this unfortunate event where an infant loses his life.

Armando Palacios, director of SINAPROC, called on the population to be more aware of their children, to avoid these types of tragedies that leave mourning and pain in Panañemos homes.
