The Citizen Security Committees have been one of the most successful public policies of the current municipal government, so it is practically obligatory for the next administration to continue it, the mayor considered Manolo Jiménez Salinas.
In that sense, the candidates of the PRI, Morena and PAN They have spoken in their proposals that, from their point of view, they will give continuity to that action or have recognized the usefulness of that policy.
“This is a very important tool to improve security, but above all, it is a very important tool to maintain closer contact with people in this matter (public security), which is practically one of the priorities for citizens”said Jiménez Salinas.
The Saltillo municipal president stressed that he has always said that it is very important in changes of administration, both municipal, state and federal, that those who arrive keep the good things and that they start from there to improve them.
“And maintaining the citizen security committees, well, is practically a must because they have given very good results. In addition, there are more than 60 thousand people from Saltillo who are waiting for those commitments that will allow these citizen security committees to continue and, therefore, that they continue to be attended by the municipal police “, he opined.
WHAT DO CANDIDATES SAY?
José María Fraustro Siller, Standard bearer of the PRI-PRD, he indicated that he plans to continue with such committees, seeking to increase WhatsApp groups.
“Citizen safety committees have been a very successful model. We will continue working with them. WhatsApp groups are going to seek to increase them as necessary, “he said.
“There is great acceptance for this model (citizen security groups), but there are some indications that we need the police to arrive on time,” he said.
For its part, Armando Guadiana Tijerina, Morena’s candidate, also spoke about the idea of improving the field of public security and continuing and strengthening WhatsApp citizen groups.
In this sense, he explained that with the creation of a Citizen Observatory on security matters, the city will be shielded through four axes: the use of the panic button in all businesses and restaurants and the strengthening of citizen networks through platforms. like WhatsApp.
In addition, he announced that a digital application will be created to promote the culture of citizen reporting, as well as the implementation of a new scheme of patrols and police presence in the streets of the entire city.
For its part, Tere Romo, PAN candidate, recognized the usefulness of WhatsApp groups, but considered that it is also necessary to offer support to those who do not have a cell phone or an internet connection, remembering that there are too marginalized neighborhoods in the city.
In this sense, his proposal is also aimed at resuming the “Vigilante Neighbor” program.
“Due to this situation, each neighborhood must have neighbors who join our program, we have discussed it with some people and they like the idea, it is nothing more than taking care of themselves among the inhabitants of the area,” explained Romo.
