COVID-19: Essalud inaugurated a new medicinal oxygen plant at Hospital II Huancavelica

The Social Security of Health (Essalud) put into operation this Wednesday a new plant with a production capacity of 50 balls of medical oxygen per day, at Hospital II in Huancavelica, to help care for patients with coronavirus (COVID-19).

Fiorella Molinelli, executive president of Essalud, indicated that the medical establishment will also be expanded by almost 20 hospital beds, which to date has only 23. “No extensions had been made for a decade, today we are doubling the capacity of beds “, he pointed.

Likewise, the entity provided mechanical ventilators and high-flow chambers to reduce the need for ICU beds in this region.

On the other hand, the official informed that the Villa Essalud Huancavelica will be built, which will have 50 hospital beds, each one with oxygen points for the care of mild and moderate patients by COVID-19 pictures.

It also promised to work on the next building of a modular hospital for Huancavelica, which could be delivered this year. “Our modular hospitals require a transfer site in use for the Essalud network of at least 7 thousand square meters, cleaned up with essential services. On this land we will be able to build a modular hospital in a maximum time of 6 months from the transfer of the land “, he pointed out.

Currently, Hospital II in Huancavelica has 10 medical-surgical specialties, a radiology service, assistance with diagnosis and treatment. It also has a General Clinical Laboratory, Hemotherapy Center and Type I Blood Bank, as well as a Clinical Pathology service.

Oxygen plant for Tarapoto

On the other hand, Essalud sent a new oxygen plant to the II Tarapoto hospital on Wednesday. This infrastructure will produce a total of 70 cubic meters and will supply 140 oxygen cylinders for the benefit of patients with moderate and severe symptoms of COVID-19.

To date, there are already more than 73 medicinal oxygen generating plants implemented by Social Security in Lima and the provinces.
