ENTERTAINMENT – The episode of “The Voice” on Saturday, May 15 helped designate the winner of the 2021 edition. But another character – not quite human – also caught the attention of viewers.
For this last show, the production of the tele-hook brought back on stage several former candidates, including Kendji Girac, winner of the show in 2014. In the company of the finalists, they performed a cover of the title “Envole-moi” by Jean-Jacques Goldman.
But then it was Kendji Girac who seemed to fly off the plateau. To end the evening before the announcement of the winner, the four candidates still in the running have taken up his song “Obviously”. But the singer was no longer there in flesh and blood to accompany them, replaced by … a hologram.
The presenter Nikos Aliagas explained that Kendji Girac sang live but in “motion capture”, that is to say with sensors placed on the body to allow to create an “avatar” visible on stage. Behind-the-scenes footage of this “little surprise” had been published by the show a few hours before the broadcast.
But the viewers remained very perplexed by the rendering, which was considered not very similar and rather crude. Character “Mii” on the Nintendo Wii console or the game of “The Sims”, the comparisons unflattering but amused were not lacking.
After choosing songs worthy of the Festival of the Depression, now I will have to recover from the holographic appearance of Kenji Girac who looks like a character from Wii 😂😅#TheVoicepic.twitter.com/E7TxXAWzdL
