Concepción: the ministers of the Nation highlighted the investment in works

The governor Juan Manzur visited the city of Concepción this Thursday, accompanied by the Chief of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Nation, Santiago Cafiero, together with the ministers of Public Works, Gabriel Katopodis; Interior, Eduardo de Pedro and Productive Development, Matias Kulfas.

They toured the sewage treatment plant that is under construction in the “Perla del Sur”. The mega-project has an estimated investment of $ 1,114 million and will contribute to a notable improvement in environmental conditions and in the quality of life of some 77,000 inhabitants.

The mayor of Concepción, Roberto Sanchez; the Secretary of Industry, Knowledge Economy and External Commercial Management of the Ministry of Productive Development, Ariel bowl; the Undersecretary for Political Affairs of the General Secretariat, Miguel Cuberos; the Secretary of Public Works, Cristina Boscarino; the owner of the Aguas del Tucumán Society (SAT), Augusto Guraiib; Y Sisto Terán Nougués, Secretary of the Belgrano Norte Grande Unit.

Minister Katopodis highlighted: “It is a very important work managed by Governor Manzur in a municipality that is radical, that is not aligned with either the provincial or national government. But the important thing is that we do works in all cities and municipalities. This plant will allow more than 70,000 residents to have sanitation. This will generate health, quality of life and jobs in Concepción. “

“Tucumán has a very important investment in public works, in routes, roads and houses. It is the model proposed by President Alberto Fernández and Governor Manzur, “added the national official.

Boscarino explained that the plant will serve around 120,000 inhabitants. “Until now it would actually be needed for 80 thousand, but it is thinking that way because of the housing growth. In 2015, through the Ministry of Public Works, the Technological University of La Plata was hired for this work, which carried out the project in 2017 but the previous government practically stopped the bidding to award the work ”.

Meanwhile, Guraiib, explained that the work is progressing steadily with its execution, complying with the expected period of 24 months. “This plant provides the treatment of all sewage fluids in Concepción. This is the second most important city in Tucumán and it did not have any effluent treatment, “he said.

With this work, La Perla del Sur will have almost 80% coverage of sewers with treatment. Regarding its progress, Guraiib commented that at the end of the civil works stage, “comes the electromechanical part and finally the set-up.”

For his part, the mayor of Concepción, Roberto Sánchez, stressed: “This plant is being executed through the Nation. We are happy with how the work is progressing, we are almost in the middle of the term, because it is 24 months of construction that will improve quality of life of all the tucumanos “.

Regarding the plant in execution, which began to be built in 2020, it currently has a physical progress of 23.14%. This is an investment that generates 97 direct jobs. It is estimated that the completion of the tasks will be for 2022.

The work of the new treatment plant receives external financing through the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). The treatment facilities will be capable of removing the pollutant load from the wastewater, in order to obtain a liquid of adequate quality to be dumped into a wetland area of the Gastona River, which until now continue to be dumped without any treatment.

Likewise, the plant will process the sludge generated by the unit operations for the treatment of the residual liquid, which will make it possible to have an organically stabilized and dehydrated product that is suitable to be dumped in sanitary landfills.

Currently, Concepción owns 80% of the sewage networks built, although they do not have adequate treatment because there is no treatment plant.

This new construction will allow treating the sewage fluids from the aforementioned networks and, together with other network expansion works that the Sociedad de Aguas Del Tucumán (SAT) has planned (which add up to 10%), it will go from 80 % to 90% sanitation coverage and 0% to 90% for effluent treatment.

Execution of other works in the province

The Solano Vera -San Luis storm drain, located in Yerba Buena, is 95.8% physically complete. The investment allocated is $ 2,017 million, with an expansion of $ 250 million. It is estimated that the benefited population will be around 30,000 inhabitants.

The Sewer Network and Treatment Plant, located in Famaillá. The project under evaluation has an investment of $ 859 million, which will benefit 25,600 inhabitants of the area.
