The May 13, 2020, all Spain was shocked at the announcement of a death as unexpected as sad, because Aless Lequio passed away at the age of 27 old after a long fight against cancer. But, without a doubt, those who suffered the worst were Ana Obregón and Alessandro Lequio, his parents, who have demonstrated the unconditional love that they professed and profess for him.
If there is something that characterized the last years of the young man it was the bravery and courage that he took as a flag to face this disease that ended up taking his life. And that was the message that he left behind to most of those who knew him, including his mother, who, despite going through the worst moments of her life, she continues to stand convinced that it is with the help of her son.
It was in April 2018 when they detected a tumor after going to the hospital for a, apparently simple, pull on the back. After a small surgery for this ailment, the doctor informed them that he had cancer, thus destroying the tranquility of the family. It was at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York where the deceased businessman was dealing with protonium radiation therapy, so the Lequio-Obregóns moved to the Big Apple of the United States and did not separate from him at any time.
After different treatments in other cities, they returned to Spain and, in March 2019, the cancer seemed to have subsided. “The nightmare is finally over,” her mother declared on television. But, after the summer, some small scares and apparent relapses led him to go to the hospital again to resume the battle. In February, he was admitted again in Madrid and ended up being transferred to the Quironsalud center in Barcelona, where he remained until the day of his death.
The emptiness left
The actress has not stopped remembering him, or talking to him, and has done so in their posts of Instagram in which he has published from family photos to messages addressed to himself. In the same way he did it in the Chimes 2020, when the biologist he wanted to dedicate them, like every year he had presented them, to Aless, but this time I didn’t have to look behind the cameras, but to the sky, from where he looked at her.
The May 9 It was also a special date for Ana Obregón and Count Lequio, as it was the day in which, in 2014, the son they have in common graduated from both majors who was attending an American university. “I feel the proudest mother in the world. And the saddest …”, she confessed on her Instagram.
But even more important for Ana Obregón is the may 13th, a date that you will always remember as the day “in which his life was extinguished”. This Thursday has been a year since the death of Aless Lequio, and the biologist wanted to honor him as he deserves.
“The day they needed a hero in heaven. The day that I died with you, my son, “he wrote on Instagram along with an emotional video in which images of Aless Lequio as a child, adolescent and adult alternated.
