The Prime Minister considered today that the summit between the European Union and India, in Porto, was a political success, having opened the door to the conclusion of trade and investment agreements and to a strategic partnership.
This position was defended by António Costa at the end of a joint press conference with the presidents of the Council, Charles Michel, and the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, at the end of the European Union / India leaders’ meeting.
Negotiations that have been frozen since 2013 will resume. Doors open for trade and investment agreements with India“, said the prime minister, also speaking of the objective of having a strategic partnership in the long term.
On the political front, António Costa pointed out that this was the first time that there was a meeting between the 27 political leaders of the European Union and the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
