The Barcelona City Council has deleted “due to human error” a graffiti that an artist had painted two months ago in the Kasa de la Muntanya, the emblematic squatting building located in the La Salut neighborhood, next to Park Gell.

As betev has advanced and municipal sources have confirmed to Efe, it is a work that the graffiti artist Txinorri made last March on freedom of expression and in tribute to Salvador Puig Antich, the last victim of the Franco regime assassinated with a vile stick in 1974, that cleaning workers of the town hall have erased due to a mistake.

According to the same sources, in this case the protocol for the withdrawal of artistic murals in the public road has not been complied with, according to which a photograph must be taken beforehand and sent to an evaluation commission to guarantee the right to freedom of expression.

For this reason, the city council has already contacted the cleaning company, which “has assumed the error” and has been made “available” for restoration, at the same time that an informative file has been opened to clarify the details and reinforce the training of the protocol to the workers.

“When BCN neta erases the graffiti from the house (made by Txinorri) denouncing the lack of freedom of expression! The Barcelona City Council and Barcelona En Com censor again”, has denounced, for their part, the group that manages the property in their social networks.

The Kasa de la Muntanya is an old Civil Guard barracks that fell into disuse in 1983 and it was occupied six years later by anti-establishment youths, making it currently one of the oldest “squatted” centers in Europe and an emblem of this movement.

On the other hand, it so happens that last February the cleaning services of the city council They also erased a critical mural with King Emeritus Juan Carlos I painted in the Plaza de les Tres Ximeneies in support of the rapper Pablo Hasl, an action that the council attributed to another “human error” and after which its author, Rock Blackblock, carried out a new one.
