The day of the 4M for the Madrid’s community they are promised intense. To advance information, and with the idea of going with the technological times in which we live, the Government of Isabel Díaz Ayuso is going to use Artificial Intelligence (AI): they will use Sophia, the humanoid-looking robot, to interact with accredited journalists to cover the count on election night and provide answers to their questions.

This is the first time an election has used this smart software. It is a digital innovation developed in Hong Kong, capable of interacting with people and offering data in real time, thanks to a technology adapted to offer detailed information on voting in a “flexible and precise manner”, indicates the Community of Madrid in a press release.

Specific, Sophia will access data on participation progress by municipalities, health protection measures or information on voting by mail and accessible voting.

Its creator, the company Hanson Robotics, has given Madrid its use for the election day of May 4, adapting the robot software that will be at the service of the media that will follow the conference from the Data Center in Hall 14 of IFEMA.

Sophia has been developed by Hanson Robotics company.

There are more than 160 accredited journalists and Sophia will interact with them through facial recognition, since it imitates human gestures and facial expressions, and will be able to answer “any question on predefined topics,” the statement said. To do this, it uses speech recognition technology from Alphabet Inc – parent company of Google– and is designed with learning capabilities.

The intelligence software of this robot Its function is “to search for information so that Sophia can communicate it in response to the questions asked, as well as to express and explain what surrounds her”. His facial expressions “are related to what he says”.

Sophia’s technology analyzes everything she hears and later, with the network, to be able to search for information to “create the best possible response”, allowing journalists to know in real time the main data, magnitudes and news that will be happening tomorrow thanks to the artificial intelligence.
