For the love of art: Actors and actresses who accepted roles without noticing the money

When it comes to caches in Hollywood, even those considered low can exceed what a mortal gets to enter in a year. However, by the standard of stars whose salaries are negotiated in the millions, these actors and actresses accepted roles, for which they were recognized and praised, for relatively small amounts.

Money is not an impediment to working with a director you admire. Or so actor, director and comedian Jonah Hill must have thought when he accepted the role of Donnie Azoff in “The Wolf of Wall Street.”

WORKING WITH SCORSESE

The American actor revealed on the American television program The Howard Stern Show in 2014 that he agreed to charge $ 60,000 gross to put himself under Martin Scorsese.

“That was their offer and I told them ‘I’ll sign the contract tonight,” Hill said according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Fax the papers to me tonight. I want to sign them before they change their mind, “he added.

He also added that “The Wolf of Wall Street” is not a movie made for money and that with what he earned from other projects he paid the bills.

“I would sell my house and give him all my money to work with him,” she said of Scorsese. “I would have done anything in the world. And I would do it again ”, he sentenced. The gamble earned him an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor.

Something similar could happen between Bill Murray, known for films like “Ghostbusters” or “Groundhog Day”, and Wes Anderson, director of titles like “The Grand Budapest Hotel” or “Moonrise Kingdom”.
