San Lorenzo was left with a key victory. The Cyclone, which had been beaten by the defeat against Central in the South American Cup, beat Godoy Cruz 1-0, at home on date 12 of Zone 1, and is excited to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Cup Professional League.

El Cuervo dominated in the first half and had the clearest situations, at the feet of Oscar Romero, Ángel and Uvita Fernández. At 24 minutes, Wilder Cartagena brought Juan Ramírez down inside the area: referee Silvio Trucco sanctioned a penalty and Oscar Romero changed it for a goal.

Already in the second half, San Lorenzo started better and even had another penalty in his favor, after an infraction by Mauro Dos Santos to Nicolás Fernández, at 18 minutes. However, this time Juan Espínola covered Ángel Romero’s shot.

From that moment on, Godoy Cruz tried to take on the Cyclone and made Sebastián Torrico a hero. The goalkeeper showed off incredible saves in a few minutes: a header from Gonzalo Abrego, a shot from Tomás Badaloni (saved on the line) and a mid-range shot from Matías Ramírez.

Diego Dabove’s team suffered more than necessary, but finally won the victory: it took an important step to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Professional League Cup. The Cyclone remained as a guard for Colón momentarily, but awaits the results of River, Racing and Estudiantes, their rivals in Zone 1.
