Alejandro Gomez Tolosa he has not yet recovered from the violent assault he suffered on May 1. That day he had decided to ride his bike again. He himself said that he had not walked for seven years, due to his diabetes, which improved in recent days.

“I left as usual, and when I got to Gobernador Del Campo and Salas and Valdez (three blocks from where I live) they assaulted me,” he wrote on his Facebook account.

He stated that he did not realize it until the thief hit him in the ribs with something, shouting “give me the cell phone and the bike …”.

“With a reaction that I had not anticipated, I jumped off the bike and, refusing, I dragged him to the avenue in a jerk and to be able to stop the cars, while the guy stabbed me with a toothed tramontina … When he saw that he would not take anything, he stabbed my right hand through it … ”he said. And he added: “indescribable pain and spurting blood.” A caring motorcyclist stopped and helped him. He called 911. Another person stopped his vehicle and dialed 107. Police arrived within five minutes. In the health center they made him the stitches and gave him injections.

“This is what this cannibalistic capitalism and son of a bitch leads us to, where they generate people like the one who tried to rob me, who in the face of their own civil death do not care about the life of another … I am fine, in pain and sad, but without fear .. .grateful to the solidarity that still exists … I know I got it cheap, “he said.

Artist

Alejandro Gómez Tolosa is recognized for his art and versatility: his first works were engravings, drawings, paintings, and he also learned specific techniques when he studied in Belgium. The world of technology awarded him a master’s degree in Spain, and from that moment digital art was incorporated into his work. Photography and post-photography came together quickly in their work: they managed to make everyday buildings in the city landscape, such as the Mercado del Norte or others, become strangers to our gaze.

He has exhibited for just over 30 years and teaches drawing at the Faculty of Arts of the UNT.

In 2020, he created incredible characters in the series “The First Fighters of the End Times”, with dystopian worlds.
