Yves Rénier, famous commissioner Moulin, is dead

The actor Yves Rénier, made famous for his role of commissioner Moulin on TF1, is dead, his family announced on Saturday April 24. Aged 78, the actor succumbed to a heart attack overnight at his home in Neuilly-sur-Seine (Hauts-de-Seine), his wife confirmed to AFP. Son of actor Max Régnier, Yves Rénier began filming in the 1960s, playing in a film adaptation of the Count of Monte Cristo. After that, he had chained several films without knowing any real success. Yves Rénier has made a few appearances in the cinema playing small roles such as Diabolo mint (1977) by Diane Kurys, Frantic (1988) by Roman Polanski, Merci la vie (1990) by Bertrand Blier or even Les Anges gardiens (1995) by Jean-Marie Poiré, alongside Christian Clavier and Gérard Depardieu.

It is thanks to the small window that the actor will experience real professional success. Yves Rénier had played in Belphégor or the Phantom of the Louvre, the 1965 soap opera with Juliette Gréco. He then obtains the main role of the adventure series The Globe-trotters (1966), before landing ten years later the role of his life, that of commissioner Jean-Paul Moulin.

The actor had gone behind the camera in recent years. He has notably produced a series of fictions inspired by recent police cases. We owe him in particular episodes of Commissioner Moulin, Simply cop (2016, 6.1 million viewers), on the case Guy Georges, I just wanted to go home (2017, 3.9 million), on the Patrick Dils affair, or even Jacqueline Sauvage: It was him or me (2018, 7.91 million), with Muriel Robin in the lead role.

A last appearance in an episode of Léo Mattei

Still very prolific despite his advanced age, the actor continued to act in television dramas. TF1 viewers were able to see him on Thursday, April 22 one last time in an episode of Léo Mattei, the series piloted by Jean-Luc Reichmann. Yves Rénier had also gone to the 12 blows of noon set to talk about his role and the major dates in his life.
