Older adults vaccinated in Arteaga would lose immunity if they do not receive a second dose

Older adults who were vaccinated in Arteaga in the month of February and lose immunity against Covid-19 after spending almost 70 days without receiving the second dose of the biological, after receiving the first application of the vaccine, this was announced Roberto Bernal Gómez, Secretary of Health of Coahuila.

The official explained that after these adults over 60 years of age received the vaccine since February 17, that is, a little more than nine weeks ago, despite the recommendation of the pharmaceutical company Pfizer is that the second two and is received during the first eight weeks they would lose the immunization effect by 25%.

He indicated that with the Pfizer, an immunity of 85% is achieved that rises to 95% with the second.

“It is likely that immunity will not be achieved, it is likely, but we do not know. The process does not depend on us, we are in the position to apply it, but if we don’t have the vaccines, what can we do ”, He said.

He also stated that the procedure is under strict coordination and dependence on the Ministry of Welfare, so they do not know a precise date on which the second dose could arrive.

Finally, he said that there are already older adults who have manifested the disease after vaccination because they already had the disease before the biological was applied.
