Belgian Lion Ismaël Bako has won the French Cup with his club Villeurbanne. In the final, Bako and co were a size too big for fellow international Hans Vanwijn’s Dijon.

Earlier in the day there was already Belgian basketball success in France, with Julie Allemand and coach Thibaut Petit who won the cup in the women with Montpellier.

It was already certain in advance that a Belgian would also win the cup among the men, because ex-Giants teammates Ismaël Bako (Villeurbanne) and Hans Vanwijn (Dijon) faced each other in the final. Villeurbanne was the winner: 77-61.

At Dijon, basic player Vanwijn participated for half an hour. In it he made 9 points and picked 6 rebounds. With winner Villeurbanne, Bako was good for 4 points and 1 rebound in 11 minutes.
