One of the main reasons why Wanchope Ábila lost ground in Boca was injuries. The forward had a difficult start to the season in that sense and that is why he decided to change the air. He went to Minnesota United in MLS with the aim of finding continuity but this Saturday the club confirmed bad news: he suffered a hip injury.
According to the official report, the Cordovan felt a discomfort in the hip / groin and cannot be taken into account for the duel that his team will play tonight against Real Salt Lake. He might just be back in a week or two, but Minnesota’s intention is to save him until he’s 100% recovered.
This is the third injury of the Cordovan attacker in seven months. In September 2020, he had suffered a tear and, later, a contracture. It should be noted that, at the beginning of the year, when the forward was defending the colors of Boca, he had undergone an inguinal hernia operation and it was only in March that he was discharged to play again.
“It is to try to solve all the problems that have been happening in the adductor and the pubic area. I decided to have a quick post-game operation to arrive well and without problems at the beginning of the preseason,” said the Cordovan at the time. The former Boca striker had already made his debut, a week ago, when he entered 25 minutes in the 4-0 loss to Sounders.
