The Mercadona supermarket chain has always been one step ahead of its competitors in terms of its offer in gluten-free diet. Within the product catalog, the company directed by Juan Roig has launched a new product suitable for celiacs: the Ham croquette.
These croquettes, called Ham whims, are marketed under Mercadona’s white label, Hacendado, for a price of 2,35 euros.
The manufacturer of this product is the company Precocinados Frisa, based in Villafranca (Navarra), which makes not only croquettes, but also stuffed piquillo peppers or stuffed scallops, they report in his web page.
In addition, this frozen pre-cooked dish is sold in a 350 gr bag containing between 10 and 13 croquettes.
Although it is a gluten-free product, the packaging warns that it can contain traces of crustaceans, eggs, fish, soybeans, celery or molluscs.
Being a deep-frozen product, the packaging also explains the steps to follow so that the croquettes come out crispy and golden on the outside and creamy on the inside.
exist two modes of preparation, on deep fryer and in a saucepan, although the procedure is similar. In both cases, the oil must be previously heated to 180 ° C. In the same way, the directly frozen croquettes are placed in one or another container and fried for 3 and a half minutes at a temperature of 180 ° C. They are then allowed to rest for three minutes before serving.
