Salta: he asked women who wanted to have an abortion in a public hospital for sex

A scandal broke out this Friday in the Salta city of Tartagal after the complaint against a doctor who asked for money or sex in exchange for abortions was known. This despite the fact that the health professional is a “conscientious objector”, something for which he can refuse to carry out the voluntary interruption of pregnancy.

A colleague of this doctor who works at the Juan Domingo Perón Hospital in the aforementioned city of Salta was the one who made the complaint in mid-2020 to the local Family and Gender Violence Prosecutor’s Office. In it, he assured that the accused requested 20 thousand pesos or sexual encounters in exchange for carrying out pregnancy interruptions.

In one case, the girl to whom the obstetrician-gynecologist made the “offer” was barely 15 years old. After this, another case of similar characteristics suffered by a 31-year-old girl was also known.

Health sources confirmed that the notification of the discharge request against the accused doctor is ready, whose name is reserved for now because it is not known if there is an accusation by the prosecution.

The notification from the health center has not yet reached its addressee because the denounced doctor is on leave for health reasons, although he was not located at his home address either. This last step is necessary to open an administrative summary against you, according to page 12.
