The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, has announced that Imserso trips will be marketed in September to start in October, since they are working on finishing the document and taking it to the Council of Ministers.

This has been stated in the program ‘Al Rojo Vivo’, in which Maroto has assured that it is “a way of rewarding the elderly group”, which is “the one that has suffered the most in the pandemic” and is already vaccinated in “70% or 80%”.

Regarding the vaccination process, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism has insisted that it is “the best instrument to reactivate travel and the economy”, and it is that in Spain almost 10% of the population is vaccinated.

“We will have enough vaccines, we are starting to vaccinate with Janssen and five million Pfize will arriver for the second quarter of the year. Accelerating the vaccination process is a priority to improve the incidence of the pandemic, “Reyes Maroto highlighted.

To this is added the digital certificate, in which the minister has affirmed that it is working to make it common within the European Union and be available in mid-June in Spain, in order to begin to recover international mobility, which Spain needs to reactivate the tourism sector.

Regarding the data published this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) regarding hotel overnight stays, Maroto has indicated that the 50% drop in March is a “positive”, compared to the 90% declines last year, “when the sector was closed”.

End of Alarm State

For the minister, the end of the state of alarm on May 9 is “good news” as it means “seeing the light at the end of the tunnel”. Regarding the possible new measures, he has indicated that they will define the governance that is adopted within the Interterritorial Health Commission, to define if the perimeter closures are necessary.

According to Maroto, Spaniards can now plan trips in Spain “to their holiday destinations or second homes”. “We will be taking measures to generate confidence in the Spanish,” he added.
