Mark Harmon (NCIS): Why did the actor get custody of Sam, his sister's son?

Before becoming a father of two boys, Mark Harmon was given custody of his older sister’s son, who was going through a very difficult time.

In the 1980’s, Mark Harmon was a great support for his sister’s son, Kristin. While the latter, in the midst of a divorce, struggled with drug and alcohol addictions, the actor went out of his way to secure custody of his then 12-year-old son Sam. With his wife Pam, the famous agent Gibbs, from the series NCIS, broadcast every Friday evening on M6, embarked on long and tedious legal proceedings before winning the case. If it earned him for a while to be angry with his older sister, the latter eventually forgave him when she was able to be reunited with her last child, once rid of her demons.

In 2018, Mark Harmon tragically lost his sister Kristin. The actress died suddenly at the age of 72. She died of a heart attack in the middle of the night as her eldest daughter had reported Tracy.

Mark Harmon, faithful husband and fulfilled father

If he played surrogate fathers for a long time, Mark Harmon later became a dad twice. He welcomed his first son Sean Thomas Harmon in 1988 and the second Ty Christian Harmon, 4 years later in 1992. Both are the result of his union with his wife Pam Dawber. Faithful in love, his heart has been beating for his wife for more than 35 years. The one was crowned with the title of sexiest man in the 80s, has been married since 1987: “We were both in our thirties when we got married, so I hope we didn’t do that stupid stuff before”, the actor joked about it in the columns of the magazine People. Not very talkative, when it comes to talking about her married life, Mark Harmon prefers to live his relationship discreetly away from the limelight.
